What is a clinical alternative to incarceration?
A clinical alternative to incarceration is a structured intervention that allows individuals whose legal issues stem from substance use disorder to receive evidence-based treatment instead of — or alongside — traditional sentencing. Justice With Hope works directly with courts, prosecutors, and defense attorneys to design and monitor these individualized programs.
Who qualifies for the Justice With Hope program?
Eligibility is determined through an initial Case Screening that considers both clinical and legal factors. The program is designed for individuals whose substance use disorder is a contributing factor to their legal situation. Defense attorneys, public defenders, judges, and prosecutors can initiate a referral at any point before sentencing.
How do attorneys refer a client to Justice With Hope?
Legal professionals can start a referral through our Legal Referral Process page or by calling 888-408-HOPE. JWHope conducts a comprehensive clinical assessment, develops an individualized recovery plan, and provides regular progress reports to the court throughout the process.
Does JWHope work directly with courts and judges?
Yes. Justice With Hope partners with judges, court personnel, probation and parole officers, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. We provide structured monitoring, compliance documentation, and ongoing court support — keeping all parties informed at every stage.
What happens after the clinical assessment?
Following the assessment, JWHope develops a Structured Recovery Plan tailored to the individual's clinical needs and legal requirements. The plan is evidence-based and includes ongoing monitoring with regular reports submitted to the court, ensuring accountability and transparency throughout the process.
